Electrocution In Hotel Rooms

You’d easily think that staying in a hotel can be safe when traveling to your destination. What if the hotel isn’t being as careful as they should be? There have been cases of hotels being negligent in several ways when it comes to customer safety. What if you get electrocuted or even have a family member die of it due to faulty items in the room?

You are now stuck in a hospital or even planning a funeral over something that is the hotel management’s fault. There are certain things you can do to get the restitution you deserve from these places. Let’s take a look at those tasks you and your lawyer can do to get the money you deserve!

Recent Cases

In August 2018, a woman was electrocuted and killed in a North Carolina motel room. She was staying in an Economy Inn and Suites motel off I-95 in Nash County. The AC unit started to smoke so the lady tried to reset it to stop the smoking.

This caused her to be electrocuted by the unit, which resulted in her going into cardiac arrest. This case of cardiac arrest ultimately led to her death. There was also a 7-year-old girl who was hospitalized for her injuries, though the identity of the girl and the woman have not been revealed.

What to Do Next

The first thing on your mind is getting proper medical attention by a medical professional. Also get a copy of your medical records from the trip to the emergency room as evidence of the electrocution. Get the doctor’s opinion on what he or she believes in their professional opinion caused the injuries you suffered. Collect as much information as you can about the electrocution or have a lawyer do that for you while you recover in the hospital.

Write down anything hotel management says to you with the date and time you spoke to them. It may essentially turn into your word against theirs. The same thing goes for hotel employees: hotel management will believe their employees, especially if a lawsuit is on their hands. They’ll do what they can to get the lawsuit thrown out or try getting you to agree to less money. They will even try talking you out of going forward with the lawsuit altogether.

Finding the Right Lawyer

There are a lot of tasks a lawyer can do for you that you can’t do yourself. These tasks include gathering any witnesses they can find, filing the paperwork through the correct channels, and gathering evidence while you are recovering from the poisoning in the hospital.

You should look for a lawyer who is well versed in these types of cases, so you can get the legal assistance you need. Getting the money, you deserve for what you went through will be the main goal the lawyer has. They will you in the hospital to hear your case. Getting the right assistance for your case can mean the difference between success and failure with your lawsuit.
