Apex, NC (October 1, 2020) – Around 9 a.m. on Thursday morning, October 1, a woman was killed in a fatal collision in Apex.
The accident, according to police, took place in the southbound lanes of US-1 near the Cary Parkway in Apex.
Police confirmed that the woman, who has not yet been identified, was traveling in the southbound lanes of the highway when her vehicle became disabled. Another vehicle came along and struck her vehicle from behind, sending it into the roadway with severe damages.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. The woman, who has not yet been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The roadway was closed for several hours in multiple lanes until it reopened around noon.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
