Benson, NC (September 8, 2020) – Around 3 p.m. on September 7, a tractor-trailer accident with injuries took place on a highway in Benson.
North Carolina Highway Patrol officials confirmed that the accident took place on I-95 when a tractor-trailer exited off I-40 and onto the highway. The driver of the first tractor-trailer told police that he did not see that traffic came to a stop.
The driver’s brakes locked up when he slammed on them, causing the truck to go off the road and lose control. The vehicle crossed all lanes of traffic where it struck a second tractor-trailer and a red pickup truck.
Two drivers, who have not yet been identified, were transported to local hospitals to be treated for their injuries. They are expected to recover.
Lanes were closed until approximately 4:30 p.m.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
