Bernardsville, NC – Christopher Phillips Killed in Pedestrian Crash on NC-197

Bernardsville, NC (November 11, 2020) – This past week, a man was killed in a pedestrian crash that occurred on a major roadway in Bernardsville.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, 39-year-old Christopher Phillips was walking on NC-197 around the area of Paint Fork Road when he was suddenly struck by a passing vehicle.

Police found through their initial investigation that the pedestrian was walking on the shoulder when he was struck. The vehicle responsible for the accident immediately fled the scene.

When police and paramedics arrived at the scene, they found that Phillips sustained severe trauma and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have since identified the vehicle responsible for the accident but have not said if they detained the owner at this time.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
