Cary, NC (December 23, 2020) – Around 5 p.m. on Wednesday evening, December 23, a pedestrian accident took the life of one victim in Cary.
According to police, the accident took place on I-40 around the area of North Harrison Avenue. A man was parked on the right shoulder of the highway when he got out of his vehicle and crossed the highway.
While the pedestrian was crossing the road, a cement truck driving through the area swerved to avoid him. The cement truck was unable to avoid him, striking the pedestrian and two other vehicles in the area. The truck then overturned and struck two other vehicles.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. The pedestrian, who has since been identified as 56-year-old Curt Floyd, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Two drivers who were in passenger vehicles were taken to area hospitals but are expected to be okay.
The investigation into the accident is currently ongoing.
