Charlotte, NC (September 8, 2020) – Around 3:40 a.m. on Sunday morning, September 6, a man was killed in a fatal crash in Charlotte.
According to police, the accident took place on East Independence Boulevard near the area of Pecan Avenue. Somebody passing through the area called the police and confirmed that there was a man lying in the roadway.
When paramedics arrived at the scene of the accident, they found 22-year-old Cameron Cook unconscious at the scene. He was pronounced dead.
Detectives have since found that the pedestrian was walking along East Independence Boulevard when he was suddenly struck by a vehicle. The vehicle that was responsible for the accident did not remain at the scene.
The roadway was blocked in the area for some time until the police cleared the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
