Charlotte, NC (November 3, 2020) – Around 3:25 p.m. on Monday afternoon, November 2, a motorcycle accident occurred at an intersection in Charlotte.
According to the Huntersville Police Department, the accident occurred at the intersection of Woodlawn Road and South Tryon Street during a motorcade procession.
An HPD officer was operating a marked motorcycle. He started to make a U-turn on West Woodlawn so that he could return to the motorcade route in the area. He rejoined the motorcade, which is when the driver of a Honda Accord made a left turn and was struck by the motorcycle.
The officer sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident. They were taken to the hospital by paramedics. Nobody else was injured as a result of the accident.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for an extended period of time.
The investigation into the accident is currently ongoing.
