Charlotte, NC (October 8, 2020) – On Wednesday night, October 7, a pedestrian accident involving an officer took place in Charlotte.
Police confirmed that a police officer was off-duty and driving in heavy traffic on East Independence Boulevard when the pedestrian, identified as Amber Sanyasi, attempted to cross the highway.
Sanyasi was halfway across the road when he was struck by the police officer. The officer pulled over and tended to his injuries while he waited for police to arrive.
One witness said that the intersection where he was struck was under construction for some time and that pedestrians are not safe in the area.
The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. His current condition is not yet known.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision remains ongoing.
