Charlotte, NC – Six Injured in Head-on Collision on I-277

Charlotte, NC (August 31, 2020) – Around 2:30 a.m. this morning, six people were allegedly injured in a head-on collision on a Charlotte highway.

According to authorities, the collision took place on I-277 when a pickup truck was headed in the wrong direction on the highway. It suddenly slammed into an ambulance going the right way coming into the Charlotte area.

Two EMS providers inside the ambulance were injured as a result of the collision and taken to the hospital for treatment. There were no patients in the vehicle at the time.

Four people inside the pickup truck, who have not yet been identified, were taken to the hospital with injuries. Police confirmed that multiple victims inside the vehicle sustained critical injuries.

The roadway was closed down in multiple lanes for an extended period of time.

No further details have been provided but the investigation into the accident continues.
