Durham, NC (August 28, 2020) – Around 10:40 a.m. yesterday morning, August 27, a woman was killed in a fatal crash that took place in Durham.
According to authorities, the accident happened when an SUV flipped over during a crash on North Duke Street around the area of Interstate 85. A Chevrolet Cruze and a Honda Element were allegedly stopped in the far right turn lane due to a red light. The Chevrolet turned onto North Duke Street as soon as the light turned green. The Honda began turning right but was struck by a Subaru Legacy driving in the area.
The Honda flipped over in the midst of the collision. A passenger inside the Honda, identified as 52-year-old Sandra Fernandez, was hospitalized but passed away at the hospital.
Three other people were allegedly rushed to the hospital to be treated for their injuries, though the extent of these injuries is not yet known.
Nobody has been charged for the wreck but the accident investigation remains ongoing.
