Fayetteville, NC (September 23, 2020) – Around 6:20 p.m. on Tuesday night, September 22, a woman was killed in a fatal crash in Fayetteville.
The accident, according to police, took place at 600 US-401 (Country Club Drive) when two vehicles collided for unknown reasons. The impact of the collision caused one of them to strike a utility pole.
A woman who was driving one of the involved vehicles was immediately ejected from her car. She has since been identified as 57-year-old Christine Harris, who was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
The other driver was identified as a 28-year-old man from Fayetteville, who also suffered from less severe injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Eastbound lanes of the roadway were blocked in the area for an extended period of time.
No charges have been filed but the investigation into the accident continues.
