Fayetteville, NC (December 19, 2020) – Around 10 p.m. on Friday night, December 18, a man was killed in a pedestrian crash in Fayetteville.
According to police, the accident took place at the intersection of NC-24 and Plymouth Street. A pedestrian, identified as 42-year-old James McKethan, was walking in the area of the intersection when he was struck by a passenger vehicle. It is not known if the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene of the accident to assist those in need. McKethan was pronounced dead at the Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he was rushed after the accident.
The roadway was closed in the area of the accident for an extended period of time.
The investigation into the accident continues.
