Fayetteville, NC (October 25, 2020) – Around 9:40 a.m. on Saturday morning, October 24, a fatal crash took place at an intersection in Fayetteville. The victims involved have since been identified.
According to authorities, the accident occurred at the intersection of Hay Street and Robeson Street when two vehicles collided with one another. Two vehicles collided with one another for unknown reasons, causing one of the vehicles to immediately roll over.
One of the vehicles involved in the accident was driven by 30-year-old Martika Roper. Two of her passengers were taken to the hospital with serious injuries but they are expected to be okay.
The driver of the other vehicle was identified as 90-year-old Marvin Sykes. He was also hospitalized but died while there.
Due to the severity of the collision, the roadway was closed down at the intersection for an extended period of time.
Fayetteville Police were active at the scene for an extended period of time.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
