Gastonia, NC (September 27, 2020) – Around 4:45 p.m. on Friday, September 25, a woman was killed in a fatal accident in Gastonia.
Gastonia Police confirmed that the accident took place at 1800 Wren Turnpike. When officials arrived at the scene, they found that a 1999 Chevrolet Malibu and a 2013 Ford F-150 collided with one another.
The driver of the Malibu was identified as 24-year-old Ryan Patterson who was traveling west at the time. The driver of the Ford was identified as 42-year-old Anthony Phillips who was traveling east. Both vehicles collided in the area.
Patterson and his passenger, identified as 21-year-old Melanie Saesee, were both transported to CaroMont Regional Medical Center by EMS. Saesee later died at the hospital but Patterson is still listed in critical condition.
The roadway was closed in numerous lanes as a result of the accident.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
