Greensboro, NC (December 3, 2020) – Around 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday night, December 1, a serious pedestrian accident occurred in Greensboro.
According to authorities, the accident took place at the intersection of West Gate City Boulevard around the area of Warren Street near the UNCG Campus. Police confirmed that 57-year-old Katrina Lou Calles was walking at the intersection when she was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene of the crash.
Police claim that Calles was walking home from her job as a Salvation Army worker at the time. Police have since found the driver responsible for the accident, identified as Jasper Wingate. He and his mother were charged in relation to the hit-and-run.
Calles was immediately rushed to the hospital and has been listed in critical condition.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
