High Point, NC (October 27, 2020) – Around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday afternoon, October 25, a pedestrian accident occurred in High Point.
According to police, the collision occurred at the intersection of East Green Drive and University Parkway. The pedestrian, identified as Laurence King, was helping a woman who lives in the same boarding house as him while she backed up her vehicle.
King was backing up when he stepped off of the street. The driver of a vehicle did not notice him and immediately struck him.
King was immediately thrown approximately 15 feet. Paramedics transported him to the hospital and said that he received serious injuries to his head and leg.
The driver who was responsible for the accident remained at the scene. Police said that he has not been charged.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
