Hillsborough, NC – Nell Richardson Fatally Struck on Scottswood Blvd

Hillsborough, NC (October 24, 2020) – An elderly woman was killed when she was struck by a car in a parking lot in Hillsborough on Saturday, October 24th. 

According to responding deputies, the accident took place in the 100 block of North Scottswood Boulevard about a mile outside of the town limits.

The deceased, who was found in front of the Food Lion grocery store, has since been identified as 98-year-old Nell Richardson, a resident of Hillsborough.

An official with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office stated that Richardson was struck by a car as she was walking across the parking lot. She was transported via orange County emergency medical services to Duke Hospital where she was pronounced dead a short while later.

The driver stayed at the crash site and has cooperated with the investigation that is currently being conducted by local law enforcement.
