Indian Trail, NC – Child Injured in Pedestrian Crash on Houndscroft Rd

Indian Trail, NC (October 5, 2020) – Around 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, a child was seriously injured in a hit-and-run pedestrian crash in Indian Trail.

According to the Union County Sheriff’s Office, the accident took place around the area of Fieldstone Farms Soccer Field when a silver Nissan Altima jumped over a curb and struck a 5-year-old child, as well as two others.

The driver of the Nissan immediately fled the scene of the collision without stopping.

The 5-year-old child was taken to the hospital by paramedics with life-threatening injuries. The other two pedestrians suffered from minor injuries and are expected to recover.

The driver of the Nissan, identified only as a juvenile, has since turned himself over to authorities. He has since been charged with felony hit-and-run.

North Carolina State Highway Patrol officials continue their investigation into the accident.
