Kannapolis, NC (September 11, 2020) – Around 6:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 10, a woman was killed in a fatal accident in Kannapolis.
According to police, the accident took place when two vehicles collided on Lane Street around the area of Earley Street. An 18-year-old woman named Cinquana Moody was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer headed west on Lane Street. She suddenly crossed the center line, causing her to collide with a Saab SUV. The driver of the Saab was identified as 21-year-old Brianna Simpson.
The drivers of both vehicles were trapped in their vehicles and had to be extricated by firefighters. Moody was hospitalized with serious injuries. Simpson was taken to the hospital as well but, on the way there, she succumbed to her injuries.
That portion of Lane Street was closed down in the area as police worked to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation is currently ongoing.
