Kannapolis, NC (November 20, 2020) – On Thursday afternoon, November 19, a woman was killed in a fatal collision in Kannapolis.
Police confirmed that a FedEx van was headed south on the Kannapolis Parkway when a vehicle tried to cross the southbound lanes. The two vehicles collided with each other, leading to extensive damages.
Fire crews had to cut open the passenger vehicle, which ran off the roadway and smashed into a tree following the accident. The driver, identified as Stacy Riggins, was rescued from her vehicle. She was taken to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead as a result of her injuries.
The driver of the FedEx van, who has not yet been identified, was injured but is expected to be okay.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
