Kenansville, NC – Head-on Collision with Severe Injuries on NC-24

Kenansville, NC (October 4, 2020) – Around 9 p.m. on October 4, a head-on collision took place on a highway in Kenansville.

According to Duplin County officials, the accident took place when a wrong-way driver was headed westbound in the eastbound lanes of NC-24 near the area of Grumman Powell Road. Their pickup truck slammed into a passenger vehicle head-on.

One person was pinned inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by fire crews. The victim was airlifted to a trauma center with serious injuries. A second person was taken to a local hospital by ambulance.

Numerous emergency crews including Kenansville Fire, Duplin County Sheriff’s Office officials, and Highway Patrol were present at the scene.

The accident caused delays in the area for an extended period of time.

No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
