La Grange, NC (August 19, 2020) – Around 6 a.m. yesterday morning, August 18, four people were killed in a fatal collision on a highway in La Grange.
According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the collision took place on NC-903 in the Lenoir County area. Police confirmed that the accident took place when a passenger vehicle was traveling along on the highway when the vehicle was suddenly sideswiped by an SUV.
The SUV spun and came to rest on the shoulder while the passenger vehicle spun so much that it crossed over the centerline, where it was then struck by a northbound commercial truck.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene of the accident. They found that nobody in the SUV was harmed as a result of the accident. All four occupants of the truck were taken to Lenoir Memorial with injuries but are expected to be okay. The four occupants of the passenger vehicle were tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Due to the severity of the accident, NC-903 was closed in the area for four hours while police worked to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains ongoing.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the families of the deceased victims and their families. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.
