La Grange, NC (August 21, 2020) – On Tuesday, August 18, four people were killed in a fatal crash on NC-903 in La Grange. The victims have since been identified by police.
North Carolina State Patrol officials confirmed that the accident took place when a sedan clipped an SUV headed in the opposite direction. The SUV then started to skid sideways and stopped on the northbound shoulder. The vehicle was then clipped by another vehicle before a commercial construction truck struck it.
Police confirmed that the accident was so forceful that the vehicle split in half. The driver’s side came to a rest on the shoulder while the back of the vehicle ran into a ditch.
All four people inside the SUV were tragically pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The victims killed in the crash were identified as 23-year-old Tytiauna Brown, 20-year-old Tionna Day, 21-year-old Jasmine Watford, and 29-year-old Rhythm Sharpe.
All four occupants inside the construction truck were injured as a result of the collision. They were taken to Lenoir Memorial Hospital to be treated for their injuries.
That portion of the highway was closed down for approximately 4 hours while police cleared the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
