Laurel Springs, NC (September 10, 2020) – On September 9, a boy was killed and his dad was injured in a motorcycle crash in Laurel Springs.
The father was traveling along on the Blue Ridge Parkway with his 11-year-old son as a passenger. A vehicle that was in front of him suddenly slammed on the brakes, according to the National Park Service. The dad tried to correct his motorcycle but was unable to, colliding with a pickup truck in the other lane.
The 11-year-old boy was severely injured and was immediately airlifted to a local hospital. He succumbed to his injuries while there.
The father, who has since been identified as Jason Kruk, was rushed to a local hospital. He is expected to survive.
The driver of the pickup truck received minor injuries and is expected to be okay.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
