Lenoir, NC – Deanna Smith Killed in Fatal Accident on US-321

Lenoir, NC (October 27, 2020) – Around 3:15 p.m. on Monday afternoon, October 26, a woman was killed in a fatal accident on a Lenoir highway.

The crash took place on US-321 around the area of Indian Grave Road when the driver of a Ford Ranger was headed north and ran off the road to the left. The vehicle overcorrected and then overturned in the northbound lanes of traffic.

The passenger in the truck, who has since been identified as 21-year-old Deanna Smith, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. The driver of the truck was identified as a 20-year-old Boone man who was injured in the accident but is expected to be okay.

The northbound lanes of traffic were closed until approximately 5 p.m. when police reopened the scene.

Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
