Lumberton, NC – Jessica Rice Killed in Fatal Collision on Powersville Rd

Lumberton, NC (December 28, 2020) – Around 9:27 a.m. on Saturday morning, December 26, a woman was killed in a fatal collision in Lumberton.

According to State Highway Patrol officials, the accident took place at the intersection of US-301 and Powersville Road. Police confirmed that a Saturn passenger vehicle being operated by Jessica Rice was struck by a pickup truck being driven by 21-year-old Taylor Paige Long.

Rice was attempting to make a left turn at the time of the accident. She was immediately rushed to a local hospital with serious injuries where she tragically passed away.

There were two passengers in Rice’s vehicle, identified as 43-year-old Michael Locklear and a 6-year-old female child. They were both injured as a result of the accident. Long was also hospitalized.

No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
