Mocksville, NC (October 8, 2020) – Around 2:45 p.m. on Thursday afternoon, October 8, a teen was injured in a bicycle crash in Mocksville.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol confirmed that the crash took place when a pickup truck was driving west on Sheffield Road when a teenager on a bicycle started to cross the road from a driveway.
The driver suddenly collided with the bicycle, throwing the teen from the bike. He was not wearing a helmet and was severely injured. The teen was immediately airlifted to Brenner Children’s Hospital for treatment of his injuries, though his current condition is not yet known.
The driver who struck the teen remained at the scene of the crash and was not injured.
Police confirmed that the roadway was closed down in multiple lanes until they were able to clear the scene.
The investigation into the circumstances of the crash remains ongoing at this time.
