Mt. Olive, NC (December 22, 2020) – Around 8:40 p.m. on Monday night, December 21, a woman was killed in a fatal crash that took place in Mt. Olive.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the accident took place at the intersection of NC-55 and Kelly Springs Road. Police confirmed that a woman in a Ford was making a left turn at the intersection when a man in a Chevrolet attempted to pass her in an illegal manner. His vehicle crashed forcefully in the driver’s side of her vehicle as a result.
The woman’s vehicle flew into a nearby field and rolled over. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene but her identity is not yet known.
Officials confirmed that the driver of the pickup truck is now facing charges.
The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
