New Bern, NC (August 24, 2020) – Around 7:30 p.m. last night, August 23, one person was killed in a fatal motorcycle accident in New Bern.
The Highway Patrol confirmed that the collision took place on the US-17 Bridge just south of the Arthur Cunningham Drawbridge. Police claim that the motorcycle was struck by a passenger vehicle for reasons that are not yet known.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were present at the scene of the accident to assist those in need. The motorcyclist, who has not yet been identified by police, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The vehicle that struck the motorcyclist remained at the scene. The driver has not yet been identified and they were not injured.
The Craven County Sheriff’s Department continues their investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
