Pembroke, NC – Update: Toni Oxendine Killed in Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Deep Branch Rd

Pembroke, NC (October 5, 2020) – Around 7:26 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, a woman was killed in a fatal motorcycle crash in Pembroke. She has since been identified by police.

Police confirmed that 34-year-old Cagney Terrell Freeman was traveling east on Deep Branch Road on a motorcycle when it suddenly struck the rear of a passenger vehicle. The driver of that vehicle was identified as 27-year-old Gabrielle Nichole Marine.

At the time of the accident, Marine was pulling out of a driveway and made a right turn onto Deep Branch. Due to how far apart the vehicles were, police determined that Freeman had plenty of time to stop and could have avoided the accident.

The motorcycle forcefully left the roadway where it crashed into a nearby ditch.

The passenger on the motorcycle, identified as 42-year-old Toni Oxendine of Pembroke, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Freeman was taken to the hospital with injuries.

Since the accident, Freeman has been charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle.

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision remains ongoing.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
