Raleigh, NC – Dalton King Jr Killed in Scooter Accident on I-440

Raleigh, NC (November 11, 2020) – Around 12:40 a.m. on Wednesday morning, November 11, a man was killed in a scooter accident on a Raleigh highway.

According to the Raleigh Police Department, the accident took place on I-440 around the area of Lake Boone Trail. Police confirmed that the driver of a motor scooter, identified as Dalton Leon King Jr., was riding his scooter when he was suddenly struck from behind by an SUV.

The driver of the SUV, who was not identified but remained at the scene, did not have injuries as a result of the accident.

The accident was so forceful that King was knocked off of his scooter and dragged approximately 400 feet down the highway. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Due to the severity of the accident, the eastbound lanes of the highway were closed down for five hours.

The investigation into the accident continues.
