Raleigh, NC (October 24, 2020) – Patrick Loring Matusie was killed during a motorcycle accident on Friday, October 23rd at the intersection of South Saunders Street and the Interstate 40 off-ramp.
According to initial reports, Robert Scott, a resident of Dillon, was traveling southbound along South Saunders Street when he tried to make a lefthand turn onto the I-40 exit ramp which caused a motorcycle rider attempting to proceed straight through the intersection to crash into its passenger side.
Police have stated that the intersection is clearly marked and disallows both lefthand turns and U-turns.
The rider, Patrick Loring Matusie, a resident of Garner, died during the accident.
Scott has been charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and failure to yield the right of way.
Police have determined that alcohol did not play a role in this incident.
