Raleigh, NC (September 23, 2020) – Late on Tuesday night, September 22, three teens were injured in a single-vehicle collision in Raleigh.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol confirmed that the crash took place on Banks Road in Wake County when a teenager struck a hole in the road and overcorrected. The vehicle ran into a tree off the side of the road.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were present at the scene of the accident. Fire crews had to extricate the female driver from her vehicle as she was pinned in the wreckage and unable to get out on her own. She was taken to WakeMed for treatment of her serious injuries. Two other passengers inside the vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to be okay.
One or more lanes were blocked for some time in the area of the accident until police were able to clear the scene.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
