Rural Hall, NC (October 16, 2020) – Around 3:33 p.m. on Friday afternoon, October 16, one person was killed in a fatal accident in Rural Hall.
The accident, according to police, took place on NC-65 around the area of McGee Road. A passenger vehicle and a minivan collided with one another for reasons that are still being investigated by police.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol officials confirmed that the driver of the passenger vehicle died at the scene of the accident, though their identity is not yet known. Six people inside the minivan were taken to the hospital with injuries but are expected to recover.
Due to the severity of the accident, the highway was closed in both directions for an extended period of time. Police were able to reopen lanes around 6:37 p.m. Drivers were urged to avoid the area.
The investigation into the accident is currently ongoing.
