Rural Hall, NC (October 18, 2020) – Around 3:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon, October 17, a man was killed in a fatal crash in Rural Hall. He has since been identified by police.
According to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident occurred when 60-year-old James Fulton was driving on NC-65 when his vehicle collided head-on with a van for reasons that are not yet known.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were immediately dispatched to the scene of the accident. The driver of the van was identified as 40-year-old Carrie Ann Simpkins, who was operating the vehicle with her four children inside as passengers. They were all hospitalized at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center but are expected to be okay.
Fulton was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident as a result of severe injuries.
The roadway was closed down in numerous lanes until the police were able to clear the scene.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing at this time.
