Selma, NC (September 3, 2020) – Around 1:23 a.m. this morning, September 3, a man was killed in a fatal hit-and-run accident in Selma.
Johnston County officials responded to the scene of the collision, which took place on US-70 around the area of Highway 42. Police discovered that a man was unresponsive on the roadway.
A witness confirmed that they noticed debris on the highway while they were traveling along the roadway. They decided to stop and look at it when they found the man lying on the road along with a moped.
Police did not confirm if the man was taken to the hospital or not, but he did lose his life as a result of the accident.
The roadway was blocked in multiple lanes as a result of the collision. Police worked to clear the scene within the hour.
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol continues their investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
