Statesville, NC (December 22, 2020) – On Tuesday morning, December 22, a serious car accident took place on a major highway in Statesville.
Police confirmed that two or more vehicles collided on I-40 around the area of Sharon School Road for reasons that are not yet known. The accident led to severe damages to the involved vehicle.
Paramedics and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene of the accident. One person, who has not yet been identified, was pinned in their vehicle and had to be rescued by fire crews. The party was taken to the hospital by medical helicopter. Their current condition is not yet known.
Due to the severity of the accident, the eastbound lanes of traffic were blocked for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident continues.
