Sunbury, NC (August 28, 2020) – Around 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, one person was killed in a fatal accident in Sunbury.
The accident, according to police, involved two vehicles and took place on US-158 around the area of Folly Road and Acorn Hill. According to authorities, two vehicles forcefully collided in the area for reasons that are not yet known, causing a wide array of severe damages to both vehicles.
North Carolina Highway Patrol officials, fire crews, and paramedics were all dispatched to the scene of the accident to assist those with injuries. While there, one person was tragically pronounced deceased, though their identity is not yet known.
Five others were taken to the hospital as a result of the accident, though their conditions are not known at this time.
The roadway was closed down until approximately 7 p.m. but police quickly reopened it to traffic.
