Swannanoa, NC (August 19, 2020) – Around 5:41 a.m. on the morning of August 16, a six-vehicle collision with injuries took place on a major highway.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation confirmed that the accident occurred in the eastbound lanes of I-40 around the area of Patton Cove Road. Police have since confirmed that six vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction collision that occurred for reasons that are not yet known.
Paramedics and fire crews were dispatched to the scene of the accident where they discovered that one person was injured. The injured victim, who has not yet been identified, was taken to a local hospital to be treated for their injuries.
The roadway was not cleared for several hours, which led to extensive delays in the area for some time.
