Traphill, NC (December 11, 2020) – Around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday night, December 10, a child was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Traphill.
According to police, the accident took place on Traphill Road when the driver of an unknown vehicle struck a child and did not stop at the scene. The vehicle was headed north at the time. Police have not yet identified the responsible party.
The child was identified as a 2-year-old who was taken to the Wilkes Medical Center and pronounced dead as a result of their injuries. Family members found the toddler on the side of the road after he got away from home. A parent was allegedly at a neighboring house when he left home.
The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
