Troy, NC (September 10, 2020) – Around 5:29 p.m. on Wednesday, September 9, a woman was killed in a fatal accident near an intersection in Troy.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the collision took place on Lassiter Mill Road near the area of Burney Mill Road. An 88-year-old woman identified as Imogene Hardister was traveling north on the right shoulder in her golf cart when she started to make a U-turn in the road.
It is not known if the driver didn’t see her, but the driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck was traveling north at the time. The truck collided with the golf cart in the middle of the road.
Hardister was severely injured as a result of the accident. She was taken to Moses H. Cone Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the pickup truck was not injured but remained at the scene.
The roadway was closed in multiple lanes for a period of time.
No further details have been released but the investigation continues.
