Weldon, NC (September 15, 2020) – Around 3:30 p.m. on Monday, September 14, a man was killed in a fatal motorcycle crash in Weldon.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the accident took place between a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle due to a DUI driver.
Police confirmed that Kelvin C. Watson was riding his motorcycle and headed south on Washington Avenue when a driver failed to yield the right-of-way to him, turning into his path as they made a left turn.
The driver of the other vehicle was identified as 24-year-old Tierria Jackson. Her vehicle collided with the motorcycle, sending it off the side of the road and into a ditch. The motorcyclist was then ejected from his motorcycle and hit a utility pole guidewire.
Watson was rushed to the hospital but he succumbed to his injuries while there.
Jackson was charged with felony death by vehicle, driving while intoxicated, no license, and failing to yield the right-of-way.
No further details have been released but the investigation into the accident remains ongoing.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.
