Whitakers, NC (August 21, 2020) – On Wednesday, August 19, the driver of a tractor-trailer was seriously injured in a truck crash in Whitakers.
The crash, which took place in Halifax County near the Nash County line, was so severe that it closed down a portion of I-95 for approximately two hours.
Police confirmed that 30-year-old Jarvis Brown was driving his tractor-trailer on the highway when another tractor-trailer collided with it. Brown’s truck was struck in the rear, where it then burst into flames due to the severity of the collision. Debris flew into the other lane of traffic immediately following the initial crash.
Brown was the only person injured in the accident, according to paramedics. He was immediately transported to the UNC Burn Center in Chapel Hill to be treated for his injuries. He has since been listed in critical condition.
Police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
