Ahoskie, NC (August 16, 2021) – On Friday night, August 13, two people were killed in a fatal EMS truck accident in Ahoskie.
According to Hartford County officials, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of US-13 around the area of Old Highway 11. An EMS truck was traveling south in the area when it went through the intersection and collided with a white Honda. Police confirmed that there were two people in the EMS vehicle and three inside the Honda.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene of the serious accident. The driver of the Honda, identified as 29-year-old Stacey Newsome, was pronounced dead at the scene. The rear passenger was also killed, who has since been identified as 29-year-old Antia Edwards. The third person in the vehicle was identified as 28-year-old Shanequa Jenkins, who was taken to a local hospital for treatment of critical injuries. Those in the EMS truck were also treated for injuries.
The roadway was blocked in the area of the intersection for some time.
No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
