Ayden, NC – Police Sergeant Killed in House Fire on Fox Hollow Dr

Ayden, NC (June 13, 2021) – On Saturday morning, June 12, a police sergeant was killed in a house fire in Ayden.

According to officials, the fire started in a home on Fox Hollow Drive early Saturday morning. When fire crews arrived, the home was already fully engulfed in flames. Upon a search, they found that police sergeant Tim McInerney was still inside when the fire started.

Paramedics and numerous other responders were present at the scene. McInerney was found inside and pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries. It is not known if anyone else was in the home at the time.

The area was blocked for some time as crews brought the fire under control. The home is considered a loss.

No further details have been released but the investigation remains ongoing.
