Belhaven, NC – Tractor-Trailer Accident with Serious Injuries on NC-264

Belhaven, NC (April 2, 2021) – After midnight on Friday, April 2, two people were injured in a serious tractor-trailer accident in Belhaven.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the accident happened on NC-264 around the area of NC-231. The driver of a Dodge Charger was traveling in the area when their vehicle struck a tractor-trailer head-on. Police believe that the driver of the Charger was intoxicated at the time of the crash.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene. The driver of the Charger was taken to WakeMed for treatment of serious injuries. Police said that they are recovering from multiple broken bones but will be charged.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was also hospitalized but is expected to be okay.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues.
