Benson, NC (December 8, 2021) – Around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday night, December 8, a fatal pedestrian accident occurred in Benson.
According to Benson Police, the accident happened just outside of town on NC-50. Police confirmed that a 50-year-old woman from Benson was walking across the road when she was suddenly struck by a vehicle that was traveling north. The driver stopped at the scene to cooperate with the police.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene to help those in need. The female pedestrian was severely injured in the collision. She was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian was not hurt. Due to the severity of the crash, the roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time. Police quickly worked to clear the scene.
