Burlington, NC – Officer Injured in Car Accident on N Church St

Burlington, NC (January 14, 2021) – At 11 p.m. on Wednesday night, January 13, an officer and another person were injured in a car accident in Burlington.

According to police, the accident happened on North Church Street. Responding officers were headed to a burglary in process on Lincoln Street when a police cruiser collided with a 2004 Nissan pickup truck. Both of the vehicles collided forcefully and a utility pole was struck, as well as several parked vehicles. The pickup truck overturned before it stopped.

The driver of the pickup truck, who has not yet been identified, was taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries. He has since been released. The officer also sustained injuries and was treated at Alamance Regional Hospital.

The roadway was blocked in the area for an extended period of time as police cleared the scene.

The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
