Burlington, NC – Tessa Cress Killed in Fatal Accident on Union Ridge Rd

Burlington, NC (October 2, 2021) – At 6:51 a.m. on Friday morning, October 1, a woman was killed in a fatal accident in Burlington.

According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Union Ridge Road. A woman was traveling south on Union Ridge Road on her moped when she was struck by a Chevrolet truck making a left turn. The pickup truck allegedly turned into the path of the moped.

Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were dispatched to the scene to help those in need. The woman on the moped, identified as 27-year-old Tessa Cress, was tragically pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries. The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and was not hurt.

The roadway was blocked in the area of the accident for an extended period of time. The driver of the pickup truck might be cited for failing to yield.

The investigation into the circumstances of the collision continues.
