Chinquapin, NC (July 13, 2021) – At 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, July 11, a fatal hit-and-run pedestrian accident occurred in Chinquapin.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the accident happened on Ludie Brown Road near the area of North Carolina Highway 111. At the time, a vehicle was traveling south when it struck a pedestrian who was walking in the area. The vehicle involved in the collision fled the scene. It is believed to be a black Mazda 6 passenger vehicle with extensive damage.
Paramedics, fire crews, and numerous other responders were called to the scene. The man was found by the police lying in the area. He was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. It is not believed that anyone else was injured in the crash.
The roadway was blocked in the area for a period of time as police cleared the scene.
No further details have been released. The investigation into the circumstances of the accident continues at this time.
